Dr. Moris is a fellowship trained hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and abdominal multi-organ transplant surgeon. His areas of special interest and expertise include diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary (bile duct) system; pancreatic, liver, and bile duct tumors; primary and metastatic liver tumors; complex or recurrent HPB disease; evaluation for abdominal organ transplantation; and robotics. He also treats people with technically challenging and locally advanced tumors, including cases that require complex vascular resection and reconstruction, as well as performing assessments of people with disease that had previously been considered unable to be treated with surgery.

Dr. Moris earned his medical degree, PhD, and MSc at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece. He completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina and fellowships in abdominal transplant and HPB surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, transplant immunology at Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and HPB/surgical oncology at Ohio State University, Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Moris is an extensively published researcher, with more than 580 publications in peer-reviewed journals. His research focuses on HPB surgery, transplantation, and transplant oncology, with an emphasis on primary liver malignancies, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma, and understanding how transplantation can expand potentially curative treatment options for carefully selected patients.

When caring for patients, he helps them understand their diagnosis, treatment alternatives, expected benefits, and potential risks so that they can participate meaningfully in decision-making. For complex cancers and transplant patients, he emphasizes multidisciplinary care and considers the patient's overall health, tumor biology, functional status, and personal goals alongside the technical aspects of surgery. He considers it a privilege to care for patients and their families during what is often one of the most consequential periods of their lives.

When he’s not working, Dr. Moris enjoys traveling, spending time with his wife and children, and exploring different cultures and cuisines. His international background and experiences living and training in different countries have given him a strong appreciation for meeting people from different backgrounds and perspectives.
